Fitted to the building
Villa, townhouse or mansion block, each gets its own approach.
Homes in St John's Wood, Marylebone and the wider City of Westminster include villas, townhouses and mansion blocks, and the right solar design depends heavily on the building. REX surveys, designs and installs residential solar and battery storage across NW8, NW1 and W1, starting with what the roof can take and what the rules allow.

The useful result is a system you understand: how it fits, what it is expected to generate and where a battery may help.

Flat and shared roofs need careful assessment before any layout.
We look at where equipment can sit before suggesting a battery.
Freeholder and council steps are part of the planning, not an afterthought.
Access in central streets is arranged before work begins.
Assumptions are shown, not hidden.

St John's Wood has detached and semi-detached villas near Lord's and Regent's Park, often with usable roofs. The area is largely protected, so what can be seen from the street matters.
Around Marylebone High Street and Harley Street, terraces and mansion blocks are more common. Flat or shared roofs are more likely, and approvals may sit with a freeholder or managing agent.
Send the address, a recent bill or usage summary, roof photos and, for a flat, the building ownership details. We will review them and survey the roof. The proposal sets out the layout, equipment, expected generation, access and the work included.
It can be possible, but the council may restrict panels on slopes visible from the street. Rear slopes and flat roofs are often easier. Check first.
Usually the freeholder or the building's management. Ask them before paying for surveys.
It can be, especially for households with high evening use. We compare options against your actual usage.
We survey and install across London. Send your postcode to confirm.
Westminster City Council lists conservation areas including St John's Wood, Maida Vale, Regent's Park, Harley Street and Portman Estate. A conservation area does not automatically rule out solar, but extra rules apply. Check your address with the council. REX has a guide to solar in Westminster conservation areas.
Planning your solar installation
A conservation area does not automatically rule out solar. REX can advise on conservation matters and discuss roof options, with consent requirements confirmed by the council or relevant estate.
