About 48 panels
Fitted on the flat roof of the block.
REX installed about 48 solar panels on the roof of a residential block in Colchester. The aim was simple: offset the electricity the landlord pays for the communal supply. The system includes a 25 kW Fox ESS inverter and 15 kWh of battery storage, so the power the roof makes can be used on site.

A residential block in Colchester pays for electricity every day: lifts, lighting and plant all run on the communal supply. REX put the roof to work against that bill.

A Fox ESS inverter, installed and wired in the plant room.
Battery storage, so the power the roof makes is used on site.
We put up scaffolding, took delivery of the equipment and set out the roof.
The panels went on ballasted mounts, with the cabling run back to the plant room. In the plant room we installed and wired the Fox ESS inverter and the batteries, then commissioned the system.
Once the battery was in, the system started paying back straight away. The generation meter read 2,038.2 kWh after the first month, and all of it was used on site.
At about 25p per kWh, that is worth roughly £500 in electricity the landlord did not have to buy.

First month only. Saving is estimated at about 25p per kWh. Results vary with the season, the roof and how much power the building uses.
Communal supplies for lifts, lighting and plant run all day. Solar with a battery puts the roof to work against that bill from the first month.
From scaffolding and delivery to the finished array, the inverter and batteries.

Tell us about the site and we will come back with a plan and a price. We look at the roof, the building's usage and how much of the power can be used on site before recommending anything.
